Summary and objectives

We are a collaborative research network following patients with hepatitis B at centres in Africa, comprising 16 centres from 10 countries. We aim to tackle important research questions to improve care and outcomes for patients living with chronic hepatitis B.

We are conducting longitudinal follow up of patients with hepatitis B by collecting routinely collected data from different centres across the WHO Africa region.

Our first collaborative paper reporting the performance of low cost biomarkers to predict liver fibrosis has been published in Nature Communications: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-35729-w
