Professor Graham Cooke, MD, FCR, DPhil is NIHR Professor of Infectious Diseases based within the Wright-Fleming Institute, Imperial College. He trained in Oxford, London and South Africa. Prior to joining Imperial he was based at the Africa Health Research Institute in KwaZulu-Natal.

His work covers a range of approaches to support viral hepatitis elimination including strategic clinical trials (in UK and Vietnam), diagnostic development, and studies of acute infection. He led the Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology commission on accelerating the elimination of viral hepatitis (2019), work which led to the development of the coalition. As chair of the British HIV Association’s expert group on hepatitis he has led microelimination efforts for HCV in those living with HIV. He has an interest in access to medicines and chairs the WHO Essential Medicines List.
