Founder, Peduli Hati Bangsa Foundation

Caroline Thomas is the Founder of Peduli Hati Bangsa Foundation, a non profit organization of people living with and affected by viral hepatitis and HIV based in Indonesia. The organization was formed to raise awareness about HIV and viral hepatitis and to educate and increase access to diagnosis and treatment in Indonesia through advocacy and evidence-informed programs. She was recently the Consultant to World Health Organization on Improving Access to Diagnostics and Therapeutics for Hepatitis B and C to address bottlenecks and leveraging opportunities in WHO South-East Asia.

Since 2019 she has also led a community team in the micro elimination of hepatitis C in the correctional facilities in Jakarta, and more recently in the Bali area, in which around 17,000 people in those settings have been screened and referred to treatment. The work was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights as well as the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
