Dr. Miranda is a board-certified obstetrics and gynecology specialist and holds a masters degree in
Infectious Diseases (1998) and a PhD in Public Health (2003). She is a full professor in the
Department of Social Medicine at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil,
where she was the coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Infectious Diseases
from 2007 to 2011 and Dean of Community Outreach from 2014 to 2019.
Currently, she is the coordinator for the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) unit of
the Department of Chronic Conditions and IST at Brazilian Ministry of Health.


Dr. Miranda has experience in the field of Medicine, with emphasis on the
epidemiology of infectious diseases, working mainly with sexually transmitted
infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and reproductive health. She has published
158 peer-reviewed publications.
